Will Myles Garrett have a breakout rookie season?

myles garrett

Going into last year college football season Myles Garrett was a clear cut favorite to be the one draft pick. Garrett was a cant miss type of player with his speed, strength , and athleticism in college. In his junior season Garrett was battling a ankle injury which limited his play and he missed three games last season.

He averaged double-digits in tackles for loss and sacks in three years of college and had 31 sacks in his career at Texas A&M. The 31 sacks ranked 2 in the SEC and 11 in the NCAA football which isn’t bad for a player who was battling injuries. Some say he struggled against top notch competition especially Alabama Cam Robinson in which he didn’t have a sack against him either.

Even with the ankle injury last season Myles Garrett was still drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the number one pick in this year draft. After being drafted by the Browns which was no surprise and was the right choice for the Browns you knew Garrett has a chance to be a special player in the national football league for a while.

He joins Jamie CollinsChris KirkseyDanny Shelton and Emmanuel Ogbah as young players on a growing defense. In a sense, the drafting of Garrett validates everything the Browns have said they are trying to do: build a young team that will grow together. Garrett now gives the Browns potentially a very special defensive end for years to come in the AFC North.

Coming into the NFL many people was concerned about Garrett taking plays off in college. In college teams run a very high uptempo offenses and defenses can be on the field for possibly 100 plays. In the NFL teams will more than likely run 60 or 70 plays in a game that a big difference between college and Pro football. Regardless of fact constant grind of rushing and passing on every down can take troll on you extremely.

Going into training camp this season Myles Garrett has looked very worthy of being drafted number one overall. With the help of his mentor the great Bruce Smith he has looked even more explosive and fast this training camp. Garrett has worked his way up the depth chart to the first team defense and even was recommended by a couple of highly veterans players that the first team defense plays better when he’s on the field with them.

Overall I think that Garrett has a chance to be a very elite player in the league with the help of Bruce Smith and staying dedicated to the game of football. I think he will have a big season if he stays healthy with his speed, quickness, and power coming off the ball will give offenses nightmares on a weekly basics. The Browns defense will be much improved this season with the addition of Myles Garrett and he has a great shot of winning rookie of year this season.

Who will win the starting quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns?

browns quarterback                                                                                                                                                                           Coming into this season you know Cody Kessler was your favorite to get starting quarterback position. The Browns traded for quarterback Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans which was suppose to be a cash dump trade meaning the Texans traded Osweiler to free up cap space and part ways. Going onto OTA”s this off season everyone in Cleveland, Ohio thought that Osweiler will be released but that was not the case Hue Jackson gave him a fair opportunity to compete for a starting spot on the team at quarterback which was a surprise to everyone but the browns organization.

By the time the NFL draft came around in April, Brock Osweiler was still on the team and you knew the browns still was going to draft a quarterback. On draft night you knew the browns was drafting defensive end Myles Garret from Texas A&M with the first pick in the draft. The main question was which round the Browns were going to draft a quarterback? Turns out the Browns traded to get back in the second after trading their second pick to draft tight end David Nkjou from Miami University in Florida. After trading back in the second round the Browns drafted quarterback Deshon Kizer from Notre Dame which was not a surprise because the browns had Kizer on their radar.

Going into mini camp in June you knew you were going to have a quarterback competition in Berea, Ohio. Leading up to training camp Cody Kessler was getting more of the first team reps and Brock Osweiler was on the second team. Going into the browns scrimmage which was on August 4, 2017, at first energy stadium Kessler had the edge over the other quarterbacks.  During the scrimmage, Brock Osweiler was clearly the better quarterback between the three he was moving the ball better down the field, and have better control on offense against the first team defense. Kessler struggled in the scrimmage he could not throw the ball down the field consistency making bad decisions and did not move the ball well against the second team defense. Deshon Kizer, in my opinion, was the second best quarterback he was moving the ball well drove them down to the twenty-yard line before making some bad decisions. You can see the talent with Kizer just needs more grooming and sitting this year he has all assets to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

In my opinion, I think that Brock Osweiler will be the Browns starting quarterback this season. It is the right decision he have the more experience between the three and has proven he can win some games. Before signing with the Hoston Texans Osweiler was pretty solid with the Denver Broncos before being replaced by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning who won the super bowl that season.  During that off season, Denver wanted to resign Osweiler but he ended up signing a huge contract with the Houston Texans which did not turn out well. Osweiler will be a safe choice at quarterback for the Cleveland browns this season. He isn’t  a great upgrade to Cody Kessler but with more experience, he should help the browns win a little more games this season.

Will the Cleveland Browns offense improve this season?

iCrowell                                                                                                                                                                                            Last season the Cleveland browns offense was one of worst in the league. The browns had a lot of injuries and lack of talent in many areas of the offense. The quarterback position last season was the most banged up unit on the team. The browns went through five quarterbacks last season four of them was injured. Robert Griffin was the starting quarterback last season and in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles got hurt in the second half with a broken collarbone. Griffin came back for the last four games of the season and finish with 886 yards and 2 touchdowns really did not get a chance to prove himself because of the injury.

When Robert Griffin went down with the injury in the first game Josh MCcown took as the starting quarterback. When Josh MCcown took as the quarterback in the second game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens he got injured with a sprained ankle. MCcown finished the season with 1100 yards and 6 touchdowns.  MCcown was a true professional with the Cleveland Browns and was a very tough quarterback with great leadership ability. MCcown in my opinion will a coach in the national  football league someday he signed with the New York Jets this off season.

In the first two games of the regular season last year the browns was already down two quarterbacks. Cody Kessler was the starting quarterback after Josh MCcown went down. Kessler was showing some progression before he went down with a concussion more than one time last season. Cody Kessler finish went 1380 passing yards and 6 touchdowns and showed some potential last season needs to work on his arm strength and stay healthy.

The Cleveland browns had one of the worst offensive lines last season and a lot of injuries to the offensive line too. The browns addressed that problem this off season by signing center JC Tretter from Green Bay and Kevin Zeitler from the Cincinnati Bengals this will help the browns offensive line tremendously. Expect running back Isiah Crowell to have break out season if the offensive line can stay healthy. He a a ground and pound back that love contract reminds me of a Ricky Williams like the run north and south. Crowell needs to work on his catching and pass blocking was his weakness last season but loves him as a running back.

The browns receiving corp was very unproven and inexperienced last season even with Pryor having a breakout season. Expect the same this season even with the addition of Kenny Britts and drafting tight end David Njoku from Miami. You can see a lot of development and potential at wide receiver this season for the Cleveland browns especially Cory Coleman if he stays healthy. Overall i think the browns offense will be much improved this season especially with Cody Kessler having a full season under his belt and with the improvement of the offensive line expect the browns to be middle of pack in total offense this season.

How Many games will the Cleveland browns win this season?

Cleveland-Browns-Fan-300Going into last season you know the browns was not going to win a lot games. As a browns fan you was excited about the hiring of Head coach Hue Jackson. Hue Jackson is know around the league as a quarterback expert you look at Andy Dalton numbers when hue Jackson was there as the offensive coordinator Dalton improved every season the number do not lie.

Last season was a very frustrating, and miserable season as a player or fan of the Cleveland browns. It was no surprise the browns have as disappointing season but they had a solid draft in 2016. Corey Coleman the browns first round pick last season out of the university of Baylor. Coleman won the Fred Bilentnikoff it is the award for the best wide receiver in college football. Coming out of Baylor you knew Coleman had a lot talent and potential to be special in the NFL. Coleman is know for his speed and his ability to adjustment to the ball in mid air over defenders. He had a good start to the season before he was injured in the second game of the season against the Baltimore Ravens in which he had over a 100 yards in that game. After the injury  Coleman struggled he got injured again in practice with a broken hand and his season was a disappointment from there.  I”m looking for Coleman to have a bounce back season with him being healthy, and being a vocal point in the offense this season.

Coming into the season last year you knew the browns was lacking depth at the wide receiver corp. The browns drafted four wide receiver last season and not knowing if Terrelle Pryor was a proven receiver in the NFL and the lost of Josh Gordon suspension really hurt the  browns receiver corp. Pryor really prove critics wrong last season when he was given the opportunity to showcase his as a full time wide receiver in the NFL. Pryor had a amazing season at receiver last season for the browns he catch 69 receptions for 1,007 yards and 6 touchdowns. It was a breakout season year for Pryor last season this off season he signed with the Washington Redskins for 1 year 8 million dollars and with the departure of Pryor it is really going the hurt the browns this season. The browns replaced Pryor with Kenny Britts who is not a upgrade for Pryor he did not reach a thousand yard season yet in the NFL and does not catch the ball better than Pryor. With the uncertainty of Josh Gordon the browns will be a unproven and inexperience group at the receiver corp.

The Browns reloaded the offensive line in this year off season and it was a great decision by the front office. The browns offensive line was one of the worst in the league last season and  it was a lot of wheeling and dealing because of injuries to the offensive line. The browns address that problem quickly they signed center JC Tretter  from the Green Bay Packers he was injured most of last season but when healthy he is one of the best centers in the league. They also signed the best guard in free agency Kevin Zeitler from the Cincinnati Bengals Zeitler is one of the best guards in the league he is dependable and is an amazing rush blocker. With the browns retooling the offensive line spending nearly 100 million on linemen I except them to be much improved and expect Isiah Crowell to have over a 1,000 yard season this year.

The brown will be much improved on defense with hiring of defensive coordinator Greg Williams. Williams is know for turning bad defenses around look at his track record with the New Orleans Saints, and Los Angles Rams they was horrible defenses before Williams join them. It was a great resigning of Jamie Collins which was one of the browns main priories this off season. Collins will give the browns a lot of versatility at line linebacker this season he can cover and most importantly get after the quarterback anywhere on the field. The browns also signed another cornerstone piece at linebacker Christian Kirksey. He also had the ability to cover and had the speed to make a lot of tackles all over the field Kirksey is only 24 years of age. With Joe Harden healthy in the secondary along with Jabril Pepper and Jason Courtney the browns secondary can be much improved still have some concerns. Last but not least the defensive line will have more sacks this season with the addition of first overall pick Myles Garret and Ogah. They are very fast and quick linemen who can get to the quarterback consistently and which Greg Williams aggressive defensive scheme it fits them perfectly.

The question for years for the Cleveland browns is the quarterback position it is going to be a very interesting camp. I except Cody Kessler to win the starting job he knows the offense better and we need to see what he can do as a full time starter. Overall I think the Cleveland browns are going into the right direction you will not see much improvement record wise this season but development wise you will we a lot of improvement going forward. I think the brown will be 4-12 season with a lot of improvement player wise with this coaching staff the future is bright for the Cleveland browns.

We have to stop the senseless killings in the United States.

killingsIt’s heartbreaking to see so many senseless killings in the United States. I’m from Cleveland,Ohio and it’s one of the most dangerous cities in America. Now I know that killings are not going to completely stop in America. The killings that can be avoided we should stop and think first. Most times it be over the most unnecessary things like womens, men, drugs, jealousy, cheating and etc. Those crimes can be avoided by just thinking before reacting. Research said that 80% of people are in jail because of senseless killings. The reason we should think most is because it’s not worth it you end up in jail for life over nothing and the person you went to jail over is still going live their life regardless of what you did. It’s not worth losing your freedom, childrens, wife, brother, sister, cousin, and friends that you will never see again over a senseless act. Example in Cleveland,Ohio where I’m from since 2014 it’s been over 500 senseless killings that could have avoided. One of the senseless killings was my cousin David Garrett. On October 11, 2014 he was going out to celebrate his friend birthday. They first went to a former club called the bank nightclub after that authories said they seen David Garrett leaving the nightclub. A few hours later he headed over to a after hour bar with friends and family called the Ultra Lounge on West 117 Lorain. When they got to the bar they run into old friends who snitched David Garrett nephew Philip Simpson was sentenced 16 years in prison. David Garrett and friends was not looking for trouble that night was just celebrating a friend birthday they ran into it. A argument break out inside the bar between the two which lead outside the bar. When they got outside a fight breakout between David Garrett and Barry Blevins. After the fight Barry Blevins got mad because he couldn’t take a butt whooping so, his cousin John Blevins handed him the gun and he shot David Garrett in the chest. David was rushed to Metro health hospital where he died 30 minutes later. John and Barry Blevins was sentenced to 14 years each which does not give us full justice over what happened but at least they got some jail time but cannot bring back my cousin David Garrett. David Garrett was a Cleveland native who played high school football in Cleveland. He went on and played college football at the University of Kansas State. He was 3 team all- American in the big 12 his senior year he recorded over 90 tackles that year. David also was on the verge of getting married to his fiancee Ciara Stewart. They had one kid together and a very bright future ahead of them they was his high school sweetheart. David was also a rodel model to the younger kids and had a lot of businesses he wanted to open up before his life was taken over a senseless act. Now in my eyes nobody wins my family is hurting over this loss and they lost their freedom for a very long time. I just we as a whole need to come together and love each other more because it’s not worth losing your life or going to jail over senseless killings in America. We have to trust Jesus Christ more and let him lead are lives everyday no matter what we are going through in life.

Is Christan Kirksey Worth the contract Extension?

kirskeyIs the Cleveland browns linebacker Christan Kirksey the contract extension? I think that it was great to lock him up now he only 24 years old. Coming out of college at the University of Iowa Kirksey was a very undersized at linebacker. Coming into the NFL Kirksey had to really prove himself. Kirksey was drafted in the third round by the the Cleveland browns. His strengths was his speed and his ability to cover at linebacker which is very rare in the NFL. His weakness was being undersized and many scout said that was not a very down linebacker. Kirksey rookie season he had 81 tackles and 2.0 sacks very productive rookie season that surprise alot of people. Kirksey second season was bother by injuries he had only 63 tackles and 3 sacks. Coming into this season Kirksey was destined for a breakout season and it to wishes. He had 148 tackles tackles which was third in the NFL and 2 sacks. Kirksey was a tackling machine especially one on one tackles and his speed was on display this season. Kirksey signed a four year 38 million dollar extension in May. It was great for the Cleveland Browns Kirksey can be a cornerstone piece for the team being only 24 years old. Kirksey has a lot of football left in him and the future is bright for the Cleveland browns I like the direction they are going in.
